Each May, communities across the country celebrate Older Americans Month—a time to recognize the strength, contributions, and resilience of older adults. In 2026, the theme “Champion Your Health” encourages seniors and caregivers to take meaningful steps toward improving physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
At Teller Senior Coalition, we are proud to support seniors throughout Teller County by providing services and resources that promote independence, connection, and healthy living.
What Is Older Americans Month?
Older Americans Month was established to honor older adults and highlight the importance of supporting their health and well-being. Today, it serves as a national reminder that aging does not mean slowing down—it means continuing to grow, connect, and thrive.

Championing Health at Every Stage of Life
The 2026 theme, Champion Your Health, focuses on empowering older adults to take control of their well-being in ways that work best for them. This can include:
Staying physically active through walking, stretching, or community activities
Maintaining a balanced, nutritious diet
Keeping up with routine medical care and appointments
Staying socially connected with family, friends, and neighbors
Prioritizing mental and emotional wellness
Small, consistent actions can make a meaningful impact on overall quality of life.
